I hadn't read a Gena Showalter novel for quite a while, and I've missed them. Great, suspenseful and spicy. The gory violence took a bit of getting used to.

I was waiting forever for this book to come out. I know it came out about a year ago, but I'm weird about my series. All the others that I own in this series are paperbacks, so I had to wait another year for the paperback version. When I finally received it in the mail, I jumped right in!

I'm so happy that I had to wait! This story was beautiful and so perfect for Cameo. She is officially my favorite Lord. Lazarus may have become my new book boyfriend in the process.

There are still contradictions to some of the previous books, which makes this a 3.75 star boom in the series.

I officially have a new book boyfriend and his name is Lazarus!

I purchased this book when it first came out but didn’t get to it right away, then I decided to buy the audiobook. Which is quickly becoming my favorite way to enjoy books. I am ready to listen again, I loved it that much! Max Bellmore was superb.

The Darkest Promise is EVERYTHING! Funny, exciting, passionate, and I didn’t want it to stop. Gena’s wit is unsurpassed!

It's Cameo's turn to find her special someone and THINGS AREN'T EASY. Honestly, they're never easy for the lords, but Cameo gets the extra special bonus of forgetting the moments that bring her happiness (and when we find out the hows and whys of that...YIKES!), so she's a little desperate at first to figure out what she and Lazarus meant to one another AND hang onto whatever happiness she can eke out of their time together.

As for Lazarus, he's not called the Cruel and Unusual for kicks. ...
